Paramedic Education Program
The paramedicine certificate program, offered through a cooperative affiliation agreement between Southern Illinois University and Ascension St. Mary’s Hospital, is designed to prepare professionals to provide advanced emergency medical care and transportation to critically ill and injured patients. A paramedic requires greater levels of knowledge and expertise compared to an emergency medical technician basic, the general prerequisite to enter the paramedicine certificate program.
We invite you to join Ascension Saint Mary EMS Department, in conjunction with SIU Paramedic Academy, for a 60 minute session that will cover topics from admissions, pre admission testing, curriculum and class/clinical schedules for the upcoming Paramedic Education Program scheduled to begin in January 2025.
The entrance exam will be given at the end of each session. The entrance exam is based on
NREMT EMT-B core curriculum requirements.
